According to the Continuing Care Regulation under the Continuing Care Act, The Continuing Care Health Service Standards establish the minimum expectations in the provision of high quality, individualized health care services, provided to clients receiving publicly funded services from type 1 and type 2 home and community care providers residents of type A and type B continuing care homes. This includes assessed health and personal care services provided by nurses, therapists, health care aides and other health care professionals.

Description

Continuing care health service standards (CCHSS) are a legislated requirement of operators pursuant to the Continuing Care Regulation under the Continuing Care Act. The standards set the minimum requirement that operators in the continuing care system must comply with in the provision of publicly funded health care. The CCHSS direct requirements related to the provision of publicly funded health care in the continuing care system, applying to operators providing facility-based care in continuing care homes as well as those providing home and community care.

In the continuing care system, the Ministry of Health is ultimately responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality publicly-funded health care. The intent of the Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS) is to identify standards for the provision of quality continuing care health services that take into consideration the individual needs, preferences and abilities of each client. The CCHSS represent a legislated requirement and set the minimum requirement that operators in the continuing care system must comply with in the provision of health care.

The intent of the Continuing Care Health Service Standards is to identify standards for the provision of quality continuing care health services that take into consideration the individual needs, preferences and abilities of each client. The standards are divided into two parts: A. Putting Individuals First: Providing Quality Continuing Care Health Services. B. Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance. This version of the standards is a result of consultations with the regional health authorities, continuing care operators/agencies, professional associations and other stakeholders in November, 2007 with the intent to clarify language and accountability.

The intent of the Continuing Care Health Service Standards is to identify standards for the provision of quality continuing care health services that take into consideration the individual needs, preferences and abilities of each client. The standards are divided into two parts: A. Putting Individuals First: Providing Quality Continuing Care Health Services. B. Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance. These standards were developed as a result of the public consultations undertaken by the MLA Task Force on Continuing Care Health Service and Accommodation Standards in 2005.

Description

The intent of the Continuing Care Health Service Standards is to identify standards for the provision of quality continuing care health services that take into consideration the individual needs, preferences and abilities of each client. The standards are divided into two parts: A. Putting Individuals First: Providing Quality Continuing Care Health Services. B. Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance. These standards were developed as a result of the public consultations undertaken by the MLA Task Force on Continuing Care Health Service and Accommodation Standards in 2005. These standards replace the 'Basic Service Standards for Long-Term Care Facilities', released in April 1995.
