Les vendeurs de porte-à-porte vendent de tout, des encyclopédies aux magazines en passant par les travaux de rénovation domiciliaire. Si un contrat est signé, négocié ou conclu en dehors du lieu d’affaires habituel du vendeur, il est considéré comme une vente directe. Cette feuille d'information présente les exigences en matière de permis pour les ventes directes, ce qui doit figurer dans un contrat, les droits d'annulation et la manière de résilier un contrat, ainsi que les signes suspects à surveiller dans le cadre des ventes directes.

In response to scams in which individuals have approached homeowners misrepresenting themselves as Government of Alberta inspectors, the Government of Alberta has banned direct sales (door-to-door) of furnaces and related products and services (including water heaters, air conditioners, windows, energy contracts and energy audits), effective January 1, 2017. This tip sheet provides information for consumers to help protect themselves from these scams, and explains how to file a consumer complaint.

In November 2018, the Climate Leadership Regulation under the Climate Leadership Act was amended to enable the President of Treasury Board, Minister of Finance to pay a rebate equal to the amount of carbon levy paid on clear (unmarked) gasoline or diesel used in a licensed service rig in a production process before 2023. This fact sheet provides information on the Mobile Service Rigs Rebate, which is administered by Tax and Revenue Administration. On January 1, 2017, Alberta's carbon levy came into effect. Rebates will be provided to lower and middle-income Albertans to offset costs associated with the carbon levy through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The CRA will redirect to the MEP any rebate payable to a MEP debtor when there is a Federal Support Deduction Notice in place on the file; this money will be applied to reduce amounts owing on the MEP file.
