Description

The Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) is Alberta’s primary funding mechanism for providing local governments with predictable infrastructure and operating grant support. Local governments determine projects and activities to be funded by the LGFF based on local priorities, within the general qualification criteria set out in the program guidelines. The LGFF is replacing the Municipal Sustainability Initiative, which was in place from 2007 to 2023.

Description

The Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) is Alberta’s primary funding mechanism for providing local governments with predictable infrastructure and operating grant support. LGFF funding is allocated annually to eligible recipients based on a funding formula. The LGFF is replacing the Municipal Sustainability Initiative, which was in place from 2007 to 2023.

It is developed collaboratively by Alberta Health, Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Health Services, in accordance with the priorities outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding between the three parties and under the guidance of a Joint Steering Committee. This manual supersedes the Health Capital Planning Manual, 3rd Edition.
