The Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities advises, reports to, and makes recommendations to the Government of Alberta on matters relating to the opportunity for full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in the life of the province. It does this by listening to the opinions of the disability community, communicating their ideas and concerns to the Government of Alberta and the broader community, and working with governments, community organizations, and other stakeholders towards solutions. The annual report provides information on the activities of the Council over the fiscal year.

The Advisory Committee also provides systemic advocacy for families of children with disabilities and assists in the development of strategies to increase public awareness on the challenges and opportunities faced by families of children with disabilities.

The Alberta government is committed to ensuring that Albertans with disabilities have the skills, knowledge and supports they need to successfully contribute to our social and economic fabric. The employment programs and services funded through the Canada-Alberta Labour Market Agreement for Persons with Disabilities (LMAPD) are one element of Alberta's efforts to ensure persons with disabilities are fully included in their communities. Alberta acknowledges the funding contribution from the Government of Canada in support of these programs and services.
