Description

The Air Monitoring Directive, Chapter 7 Calibration, requires flow verification measurement of field calibration devices during monthly multi point calibrations of continuous ambient air analyzers (see section 3.3 in AMD Chapter 7). This is the general procedure followed by Alberta Environment and Parks audit staff. All flows are measured at the calibration gas output on the calibrator.

Description

To obtain timely data for the purpose of air quality assessment, air quality trend reporting and to meet the requirements for inclusion of the data in provincial and national air quality databases, a continuous method of analyzing ethylene (C2H4) concentrations in ambient air is used. This method is capable of measurement updates at a rate of once every four minutes for calculations of an hourly average. Commercially available gas chromatography based reduced gas detection (RGD) analyzers are used in the method.

Description

To obtain timely data for the purpose of air quality assessment, air quality trend reporting and to meet the requirements for inclusion of the data in provincial and national air quality databases, a method of analyzing particulate matter (PM) in ambient air is used. The commercially available Partisol™ Model 2000 low flow rate sampler consisting of a hub station and up to three satellite stations is used in this method.

Description

To obtain timely data for the purpose of air quality assessment, air quality trend reporting, air quality index reporting and to meet the requirements for inclusion of the data in provincial and national air quality databases, a continuous method of analyzing Carbon Monoxide (CO) concentrations in ambient air is used. This method is capable of measurement updates at a rate of once every five minutes or faster. Readings from instruments of this method enables the calculation of hourly averaged concentrations of CO. Commercially available CO analyzers are used in the method.
