Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Montem Resources Alberta Operations Ltd. Tent Mountain Project. The Project would involve the resumption of mining at a surface coal mine, a coal preparation plant and associated infrastructure including a coal conveyor system and a rail load-out facility. The total project area would be confined to the existing Mine Permit area of 750 hectares and the mine production would average 1.2 million tonnes of metallurgical coal per year. Value Creation Inc. owns Oil Sands Conservation Act Scheme Approval No. 10330B and Environmental Protection & Enhancement Act (EPEA) Approval No. 203303-01-01 covering diluted bitumen upgrading/specialty refining capacity up to 29,890 m3/day (188,000 barrels per day) and EPEA Approval No. 387876-00-00 for a Tank Farm serving early phase. The VCS-Heartland Complex Expansion would increase the capacity of the Project in total of up to ~119,240 m3/day (~750,000 barrels per day). Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Coalspur Mines (Operations) Ltd. Vista Coal Mine Project Phase II. Coalspur is proposing an expansion of their approved Vista Coal Mine. The expansion would be a westward continuation of the existing mine and be an open pit surface coal mine to recover the same seams and using the same methods as the existing mine. The expansion would use existing infrastructure such as: coal processing facilities (including refuse production facilities), primary access roads and a coal loadout facility. The coal mined from the combined operation would be transported by rail to west coast ports, then shipped via ocean vessels to foreign markets. Coalspur would operate the mine as one complex with potential to increase annual production from 10 to 15Mt (million clean tons) on average. The proposal is for in situ extraction with an estimated total bitumen production of 160,000 bpd and an operational life of up to 40 years. The project would be developed in four phases, supported by cogeneration of electricity to be constructed within the first two phases. Project components include gas fired steam generation including some cogeneration, water treatment and recycling, bitumen treatment, multi-well production pads, steam delivery pipelines, product recovery pipelines, local access roads, and borrow pits.
