The main purpose of the committee is to ensure that all health and safety concerns are brought into the open and kept there, under the spotlight, until they have been resolved. That cannot be done without some kind of committee whose business is visible to, and accessible to, every person at the work site — that is, to workers, to supervisors, to managers, and to the employer.
