Description
Forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from Indigenous peoples, the public and interest groups. The Lesser Slave Lake Regional 2021 FMP is a joint FMP prepared by Tolko Industries Ltd., Vanderwell Contractors (1971) Ltd., and West Fraser Mills Ltd. The area covered by the FMP consists of Crown Forest Management Unit (FMU) S16 and the FMA and non-FMA portions of FMUs S17, S19, S20, S21 and S24, collectively known as the Defined Forest Area (DFA). The DFA is located in north central Alberta near High Prairie and Slave Lake and falls within the Upper Foothills, Lower Foothills, Central Mixedwood and Dry Mixedwood Natural Subregions.
