The LERB is an independent quasi-judicial body established under the Police Act. Its principal activity is to hear appeals for both citizens and police officers separate and apart from the police service involved. The principal objective of the board is independent and impartial review. Note: LERB in-person hearings were suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hearings, by videoconference, resumed in January 2021.
