Description

The final report from the Research Commercialization Working Group (RCWG) was developed by experts from academia and industry, together with government. The RCWG’s mandate was to deliver on Goal 3 of Alberta 2030: Support Innovation and Commercialization, and provide input to the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy. Recommended action items within the report include: coordinating government funding on RCWG priority research sectors; developing an intellectual property (IP) framework that aligns IP policies, raises awareness of IP, and creates collaboration/hand-off opportunities to industry; and convening ecosystem players regularly and often to enhance research partnership potential. The Major Innovation Fund is an outcomes-focused program intended to build capacity and create Alberta-institution-led projects and initiatives which are designed to support research and technology development of strategic value at Alberta's post-secondary institutions. The program supports the research and commercialization priorities set out in the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy.
