A Workforce Strategy for Alberta’s Forest Industry was developed by stakeholders from the forest industry with support from the Alberta government. Representatives from this industry participated in a series of discussions that occurred between 2007 and early 2008 and the feedback from those meetings formed this strategy.

The number of older workers in Alberta's working age population (WAP) grew by 48.4% between 1997 and 2007. In 2007, 43.5% of Alberta's WAP was older workers.
