Ministerial order from the Minister of Children's Services allowing day care, out-of-school care and innovative child care programs to re-open under health guidelines and allowing regulatory requirements to be varied by the statutory director, to allow for mixed-ages in child care programs. This order rescinds Children's Services Ministerial Order 2020-03.

Description

This Ministerial Order, signed by the Minister of Community and Social Services (CSS), temporarily suspends time limitations set out in legislation in response to the COVID-19 crisis. This order applies to appealing decisions on CSS programs. This Ministerial Order makes sure Albertans can exercise their rights when it is safe, and that those accessing and working with CSS programs have the flexibility they need. Appeals can still be filed. If proper isolation and physical distancing measures can be maintained—and all of the necessary steps taken for the appeal to be filed—a decision can be appealed. Once the period of public health emergency has passed, timelines will again proceed as normal. NOTE: this Ministerial Order is no longer in effect.
