This AgriProfit$ cost and returns report presents a multi-year summary of the economic, productive, and financial performance of Alberta cow/calf producers. Participating cow/calf producers received a customized business analysis of their operations for comparison to this multi-year benchmark report. The benchmarks contained in the report summarize all sources of income and expenses related to cow/calf enterprises and covers all those activities to produce and raise calves until weaning in a given fiscal year.

The Land Suitability Rating System (LSRS) rating map illustrates the relative suitability of lands in Alberta for growing spring-seeded small grains and shows how the dominant LSRS codes are distributed across Alberta. The LSRS rating process improves on the more subjective and dated Canada Land Inventory rating process. The map combines the AGRASID 4.1 computed LSRS values of the agricultural area of the province with the SLC 3.2 computed LSRS values of the forested area of the province. This set of resources describes the Research Licence - Pre-Approved Assessments and Salvages (RL-PAAS), a licence for those whose work involves a high volume of fish and fish habitat assessment projects associated with collecting, holding, sampling fish for inventory or conducting fish rescues and salvages. The fact sheet includes information on when and how to apply, approval considerations and how to use this special licence. The decision tree diagram shows when to apply for an RL-PAAS compared to a Fish Research Licence, while the flow diagram demonstrates when and how to use the RL-PAAS once it has been issued. The process guide outlines the required steps to submit RL-PAAS licence notifications and approvals in writing, inform of project delays or cancelations and submit RL-PAAS data loadforms.

Description

Official greenfeed and silage production statistics for Alberta are not available from Statistics Canada or any other source, despite the fact that producers in the province harvest significant acreages of annual crops for greenfeed and silage every year. To fill this data gap and meet client needs, the Statistics and Data Development Section of Alberta Agriculture and irrigation (AGI) initiated a greenfeed and silage production survey in 2002. Since then, the survey has been conducted annually to develop selected statistics for the forage industry. This survey is conducting in partnership with Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC). The survey collected data on greenfeed and silage acreage, yields and production at the municipal level. The information was then used, along with input from AF specialists, to develop provincial estimates. Just to note, the yield and production estimates in this report are on a wet weight basis.
