The Alberta Activity Index (AAX) closely tracks economic activity. Developed by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance, it is a weighted average of nine monthly indicators (employment, average weekly earnings, retail trade, wholesale trade, manufacturing, new truck sales, housing starts, rigs drilling and oil production). This data file is updated monthly. See the related tab for a link to the AAX web page which includes highlights and a chart.

Alberta laws authorize the creation or incorporation of certain non-profit organizations and extra-provincial registration of organizations from other provinces and countries. In Alberta, incorporation can take place under the Agricultural Societies Act, Companies Act, Religious Societies Lands Act, Societies Act, and a small number of private acts. Extra-provincial registration of non-profit organizations from outside Alberta takes place under the Business Corporations Act. The list indicates the type of organization, the name of the non-profit organization, its current status, its registration date, city, and postal code.

Description

Economic multipliers are used to assess the impacts on the economy of an exogenous change in final demand or output of a given industry. Impacts are estimated in terms of total output, gross domestic product, employment and labour income. These multipliers reflect the structure of the Alberta economy and industry linkages during the reference year. Each publication contains multipliers specific to various industries and commodities for two models: the "Open" model covers direct and indirect impacts while the "Closed" model covers direct, indirect and induced impacts. Note regarding the 2020 input-output multipliers: Statistics Canada recommended that due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, the structure of the economy was significantly altered. The 2020 input-output multipliers and input-output models should be used for analysis of economic impacts in 2020. Lists municipal tax rates, expressed as a mill rate, for Alberta municipalities. The Mill rate is the amount of tax payable per dollar of the assessed value of a property. The mill rate is based on 'mills'; as each mill is one-thousandth of a currency unit, one mill is equivalent to one-tenth of a cent or $0.001. Property tax in dollar terms is calculated by multiplying the assessed property value and the mill rate and dividing by 1,000. As a property may be subject to tax by a number of different authorities, mill rates are set by each taxing authority so as to meet the revenue projections in their budgets.
