This multi-phase project on Alberta's oil sands bitumen quality has been compiled. Bitumen assays were generated by Maxxam Analytics and aggregated by Alberta Energy. The aggregate assays are based on a combination of oil sands region and recovery technology. This ensures the anonymity of each oil sands operator’s specific bitumen assay data.

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Teck Resources Limited Frontier Oil Sands Mine.The project consists of the construction, operation and reclamation of an oil sands surface mine with a production capacity of about 260,000 barrels per day of bitumen. The project is a truck and shovel mine which includes one open pit, an ore preparation plant, a bitumen processing plant, tailings preparation and management facilities, cogeneration facilities, support utilities, disposal and storage areas, river water intake, a fish habitat compensation lake, bridge, roads, airfield and camp.

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Shell Canada Limited Carmon Creek Project (2009). The proposal involves the expansion of the existing operations to 80,000 barrels per day using vertical steam drive thermal recovery process, along with initial cyclic steam stimulation. The approximate location is 40 km northeast of Peace River in the Northern Sunrise County. The EIA was deemed complete in 2011.
