This protocol provides a framework for a coordinated response to unusual outbreaks of communicable diseases where other protocols are not already in place. It sets out key guiding principles for the identification of, and coordinated response to, unusual outbreaks in order to: outline roles and responsibilities of key partners; enhance collaboration and coordination; establish clear lines of communication and information; and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
