Description

Through the Community Adult Learning Program, Advanced Education supports the delivery of adult learning opportunities, professional development for adult learning practitioners, and other initiatives that foster the advancement of community adult learning in Alberta. The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that organizations receiving funding through the Program are familiar with its intent and understand the requirements and expectations of grant recipients. While it is understood that each community requires a unique approach to addressing adult learning needs, this document outlines the core expectations of Advanced Education.

Alberta's Community Adult Learning Program provides funding and other supports to community-based organizations to offer part-time, non-credit adult learning opportunities in local communities. Through this program, adults have the opportunity to return to learning to meet their personal learning or employment goals. This annual report presents the work and achievements of the Program during the year indicated.

In 2009, the Government of Alberta released a document, Living Literacy: A Framework for Alberta’s Next Generation Economy, to respond to the need for greater awareness and coordinated actions to ensure that Albertans have the literacy competencies to participate fully and successfully in living, learning and work. This report describes the results to date of the implementation of the priority actions identified in the Framework.
