Description

An aerial survey for all big game ungulate species was conducted in wildlife management units 214, 314 and 316 northwest of Calgary. The intent of this survey was to generate an abundance for each species using distance sampling, as well as age composition and sex ratios, to better inform harvest management.

Results of the aerial ungulate survey for moose that took place in Alberta’s Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 200 from Jan. 28 to 30, 2019. The purpose of the survey was to count various ungulate species in the area, specifically, white-tailed deer, mule deer and moose, and to classify each species by sex and age.

Results of the moose aerial population count surveys for the 2018 hunting season in Alberta. The surveys were conducted in Wildlife Management Unit 320. The primary objectives of this survey were to assess the status of moose populations by determining a population estimate based on density estimates, and a population demographic split for sex and age classes. The secondary objectives of this survey were to assess the status of white-tailed deer, mule deer and elk populations in WMU 320 by determining a population estimate based on density estimates, and a population demographic split for sex and age classes.
