This guide will provide teachers with the tools needed to plan a successful Cree language experience in their classroom. The teachers will choose from the Sample Teaching and Learning Activities appropriate activities with their students. The activities are divided into four sections: Applications, Language Competence, Community Membership and Strategies. Each section has its own emphasis. It is advisable to integrate activities from all four sections when planning for the year, units and lesson plans.

This resource is intended to help classroom teachers and staff better serve the needs of their Aboriginal students. It offers information about Aboriginal cultures and perspectives, practical ideas, and sample strategies that will help teachers meet the needs and recognize the gifts of Aboriginal students. Many of the sample strategies are good for all students and are relevant for a range of educational settings and contexts. The resource is organized into seven chapters. Each chapter contains information, sample strategies, shared wisdom from Aboriginal scholars and Elders, and related stories shared by Aboriginal teachers and liaisons.
