Alberta’s Primary Health Care Strategy sets out the vision for the future: a primary health care system that supports Albertans to be as healthy as they can be. It establishes principles and strategic directions for continuing the transformation of primary health care in Alberta. These describe what needs to be done to further enhance the delivery of care, to change the culture within the system, and to put in place the building blocks for long‑term sustainability.

Aboriginal people are over-represented with the risk factors that lead to HIV infection and data suggest that the level of infection is rising. The HIV issues for the Aboriginal people are serious, adding to an already complex and long-standing array of health and social challenges that face Aboriginal people and their communities. The Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Strategy presents a culturally-appropriate approach to the prevention of HIV and for the care and support of Aboriginal people with HIV/AIDS.
