The Building Naming Policy provides strategic direction in affirming and celebrating Alberta’s rich history, culture and natural heritage, and is intended to ensure an expansive view is taken of the stories to be recognized through building naming. The policy applies to facilities owned and administered by the Government of Alberta.

Programming priorities will shift and evolve over time, while the Collection Development Plan seeks to address current gaps in the collection, and encourages a commitment to long-term collecting sustainability. This document crystallizes the collecting priorities, with the support of the Board of the AFA, and provides a framework for specific tactical plans to address gaps in the collection. Annual strategies on how to best achieve these goals will be articulated in annual planning documents based on available funds, market trends, and other resources.
