This information sheet explains how a number of engineered wetlands throughout Fish Creek Provincial Park work to collectively filter most of the storm water that flows into the Park.

Hay-Zama Lakes Wildland Park preserves a huge 486-square-kilometre wetland located approximately 120 kilometres west of High Level that is visited by thousands of waterfowl each year. The Hay-Zama Lakes area has long been recognized by Aboriginal peoples for its natural values, and conservation groups have worked to protect the area's waterfowl habitat since the 1930s. Whitehorse Wildland Park, established in August 1998, is 60 kilometres south of Hinton. The park is approximately 175 square kilometres in size.
