Description

The survey and sketch plans requirements for the preparation of a survey and/or sketch to be submitted to Forestry, Parks and Tourism (FPT) and the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) for a public lands disposition. The requirements include dispositions and Provisional Roadways (RDS) and Disposition Reservations (DRS), on public lands managed by FPT and the AER. This manual does not include the survey and sketch requirements for agricultural activities on public land.

Results from aerial mountain goat population surveys conducted in the Willmore Wilderness Park from June 23-July 12, 2021. The objective of the surveys was to inform the status of mountain goat populations in the Northwest Region which have traditionally supported licensed or unlicensed harvest and four complexes where declines have resulted in very small populations with high conservation risk.

Results from aerial ungulate surveys conducted on February 5-7 and 9-10, 2020 in all known bighorn sheep winter ranges in wildlife management units 328, 414, 418, 420, 422, 426, 428, 429, 430, 432, 434, 734 (Ghost Wilderness Area) and 738 (White Goat). This report summarizes the results of the 2020 winter survey on provincial lands. Details on the Banff Park survey are reported separately.

The proposal is to construct and operate an aerial passenger ropeway system along with a day lodge, trail networks, viewing platforms, suspension bridge and associated utility services infrastructure as part of the Silvertip Integrated Village Resort. The proposed passenger aerial gondola would connect the base area of the Silvertip Resort to an upper terminal on the summit ridge of Mount Lady MacDonald, via a mid-station integrated with the Silvertip Resort Village. Additionally updated population numbers will be used to confirm the progress of elk hunting in controlling population growth.
