Description

The Métis Credible Assertion Capacity Funding Grant focuses on increasing capacity for Métis organizations that are already in the Métis Credible Assertion process and have provided material submissions to the Alberta government. The grant will provide opportunity for participating Métis organizations to recover expenses incurred in the compilation of their assertion.

Presents nine recommendations made to the government by the Métis Women's Council on Economic Security in 2017, and the related government responses to the recommendations. Recommendations cover the child intervention system, safety for Indigenous women, support for Indigenous people transitioning to urban centres, Indigenous tourism, social justice, collaboration in the development of government programs and services, and entrepreneurial and employment opportunities resulting from the legalization of cannabis. The Council was established in 2013 to provide advice and recommendations to the Government of Alberta on strategies to improve the economic security of Indigenous women in Alberta.

The Métis Women’s Council on Economic Security was established to provide advice and recommendations to the Government of Alberta on strategies to improve the economic security of Indigenous women in Alberta. The Council’s 2016 report and recommendations puts forth recommendations in the areas of government procurement, Indigenous tourism and the arts, and trauma-informed care (health and wellness). This report presents the Council’s recommendations and the Government of Alberta’s response to these recommendations.
