Description

The Government of Alberta will provide one-time funding assistance to eligible organizations who own or operate a public facility and whose mandate includes a cultural, religious, spiritual, or ceremonial component. Funding will help offset the costs incurred to relaunch gatherings while following Alberta’s public health measures. This would include facility space changes to create no-contact areas, better ventilation, procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE), contracted cleaning services, technology upgrades for online delivery of services and language translation of health related signage.

Discusses the activities and achievements and presents the financial statements of the Alberta Historical Resources Foundation. The Foundation is responsible for providing financial and technical assistance for heritage projects, for making decisions on naming geographical features and for hearing representations on proposed designations of historic resources. It is a provincial corporation created under the Historical Resources Act and accountable to the Minister of Culture and Tourism, and is governed by a board consisting of individuals from across the province with a shared passion for preserving and promoting Alberta's heritage.

This ministry annual report also includes: the financial statements of entities making up the ministry including the Department of Culture, regulated funds and provincial agencies for which the minister is responsible; and other financial information as required by the Financial Administration Act and Fiscal Management Act, either as separate reports or as a part of the financial statements, to the extent that the ministry has anything to report.

Between December 16, 2009 and February 26, 2010, the Honourable Lindsay Blackett, Minister of Culture and Community Spirit engaged in a dialogue with the nonprofit/voluntary sector. Six regional dialogue meetings were conducted in Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton. An online dialogue was hosted on the Culture and Community Spirit website to enable access to individuals who wished to have input but were not able to participate in the regional dialogues. The purpose of the dialogue was to identify challenges and opportunities for government and the sector to work better together to help support healthy and vibrant communities.
