The all-party Ministerial Panel on Child Intervention was established to explore ways to improve Alberta’s child death review system and strengthen the intervention system. This report presents the final recommendations of the panel to the Minister of Children's Services, and includes 26 recommendations grouped around the following eight principles: co-creating a positive future; reconciliation; supporting families and communities; sustaining cultural connections; utilizing the strengths of family systems and kinship care; supporting a strong, stable workforce; combating discriminatory mindsets, and enabling the change.

The purpose of the Harvesting the Wisdom of Coalition project is to contribute to what we know about developing and sustaining effective coalitions. This report integrates the information gathered in the literature review (Harvesting the Wisdom of Coalitions: Literature Review) with primary research undertaken with members of coalitions across Alberta. Community coalitions have formed for a wide variety of purposes in Alberta and have involved many people and organizations. The practical experience gained in forming and sustaining coalitions can benefit new, as well as, existing coalitions. This report presents the findings of the study, whose goal was to harvest and share the wisdom of coalitions across Alberta.

Each year, approximately 450 nonprofit arts organizations in Alberta receive operating funding from the AFA to support arts programming in their communities. Recognizing the vital contributions of nonprofit arts organizations to the quality of life for Albertans, the AFA provides funding to organizations in more than half of Alberta’s cities, towns, and villages. During the seven year period captured in this report, 670 organizations in 180 communities received operational funding from the AFA. Arts Impact Alberta 2014 is a step in documenting the collective role these nonprofit arts organizations play in the cultural life of Alberta. As the province’s primary arts funding agency, the AFA is in the privileged position of stewarding data on behalf of Alberta’s nonprofit arts sector. This literature review is the first phase of a four-phase project with the goal of harvesting and sharing the wisdom of coalitions across Alberta. In addition to the literature review: - An inventory of community coalitions in Alberta will be compiled. - A meeting with leaders and members from coalitions across Alberta will be held for the purpose of finding out what they know about forming and sustaining coalitions and what coalitions need to support the well-being of their communities. - A final report summarizing the findings and recommendations that have come out of this process will be produced.

As the province’s primary arts funding agency, the AFA is in the privileged position of stewarding data on behalf of Alberta’s nonprofit arts sector. The report uses data submitted to the AFA by nonprofit arts organizations, places it in a larger social and economic context, and begins to tell the story of this sector for Albertans over the five year period from 2006-07 to 2010-11.

Albertans expect their government to lead the way in reducing the environmental impact of its business practices. This is why the Government of Alberta adopted the Greening Government Strategy. The strategy, which was approved by Cabinet on April 28, 2010, outlines a coordinated, strategic approach that will build a government-wide culture that embraces environmental action. 2010-11 was an exciting time as it marked the first year of implementation, demonstrating the Government of Alberta’s commitment to reduce its environmental footprint. Implementation activities really began to take shape and a strong focus was placed on building a culture of green throughout the Government of Alberta.
