This document outlines the unique considerations relevant to managing Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park within the context of the system of Alberta's provincial parks. In the plan, each issue is given context, management objectives are identified and corresponding strategies are provided. The management plan is designed to provide a long term and comprehensive framework to guide both park operations and park developments. It has been produced in consultation with Albertans, stakeholders and First Nations, and is intended to help achieve sustainable protection of the valuable natural and cultural resources, and to provide the foundation for long-term economic benefits to the people of Alberta.

The North Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council was appointed by Cabinet to provide strategic advice in the development of the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan. In its advice submitted to the government in December 2014, the council provided 69 recommendations in six topic areas: managing wetlands and lakes as part of watershed management; supporting biodiversity in the region; inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in land-use planning; community growth and community land-use planning; management of outdoor recreation; and economic development.

This report summarizes traditional knowledge and traditional land use information from the South Saskatchewan and Milk River Basins in southern Alberta. It was prepared to provide background information during the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan process. Traditional cultures managed and thrived in the highly seasonal environment of southern Alberta. A detailed, highly developed and thorough knowledge of the natural environment was required to sustain the economy and culture of indigenous people. The report uses examples of important plant and animal resources and sites to illustrate and demonstrate the breadth and depth of knowledge and information required by First Nations, and particularly Blackfoot, peoples concerns regarding air quality issues, it has become apparent that air issues should be considered in developing a comprehensive regional plan for the SSR.
