Description

The listing of historic resources identifies lands that contain or are believed to contain historic resources, including primarily archaeological and palaeontological sites, Indigenous traditional use sites of a historic resource nature, and historic structures. Issued twice a year, it provides industry and other developers with advance notification of possible historic resource concerns. Alberta Township System coordinates are provided for each historic resource area.

The listing of historic resources identifies lands that contain or are believed to contain historic resources, including primarily archaeological and palaeontological sites, Indigenous traditional use sites of a historic resource nature, and historic structures. Description

The Culture Point dataset is comprised of all the points that represent Hamlets, Localities and Townsites in Alberta. The formation of a Hamlet can occur if there are 5 or more buildings used as dwellings with a majority of which are on parcels of land smaller than 1850 square metres, has a generally accepted boundary and name and contains parcels of land that are used for non-residential purposes. Hamlet is an unincorporated community that can be designated by the council of Municipal District or Specialized Municipality within their boundaries, or by the Minister of Municipal Affairs within the boundaries of an Improvement District. Locality is an unincorporated place or an area with scattered population. Townsite is a federally administered village. The boundaries of rural classification of Locality and Townsite are often undefined.

The purpose is for the protection of historic resources in Alberta. The Alberta Recreation Survey is a series of surveys that have been conducted approximately every four years since 1981. The survey collects information related to participation patterns of Albertans and the factors which influence their recreation activity choices. The following questions have consistently been included in each survey: participation by household members and respondents in an extensive array of social, creative, cultural, recreation, outdoor and sport activities; respondents' three favourite activities and reasons for participation in their first favourite activity; an activity respondents would like to start and the reasons for not starting the activity, involvement as a volunteer; opinions on recreation and parks activities and services and demographic information about the respondents and their households. Includes information on two funding opportunities available through the Heritage Preservation Partnership Program. The Roger Soderstrom Scholarship was established to help advance historic preservation in Alberta by assisting student research. The Bob Etherington Heritage Conservation Fund aims to help develop skills in heritage conservation in Alberta by providing financial support to eligible individuals who wish to attend training and eligible organizations who wish to deliver training in the conservation of historic buildings.

Description

The Provincial Parks Act provides for designation of lands to be managed under the Act that are not established as parks/protected areas. These lands are 'declared' under the Provincial Parks (Section 7 Declaration) Regulation, and are legally described in Schedules to the Regulation. Specific provisions of the Act and regulations may be applied to each land parcel declared under section 7 to provide for management of the lands. Section 7 is used to address interim management of lands that have been acquired for park/protected area purposes but are not yet designated, or where activities not permitted in a park/protected area are being managed until such time as the activity is completed and the lands can be designated as a park/protected area. The applicable Ministerial Order is referenced in the 'NOTES' field.

Results provide insight into emerging trends, help monitor the effectiveness of programs and services and inform decisions by enhancing the Government of Alberta's understanding of the needs of Albertans.
