Each year the ministry coordinates a survey of Albertans on topics related to the work of the ministry. Topics covered in the various surveys include: arts and culture, volunteering, cultural industries, heritage sites, gender-based violence, and recreation and sport. Results provide insight into emerging trends, help monitor the effectiveness of programs and services and inform decisions by enhancing the Government of Alberta's understanding of the needs of Albertans.

Each year the ministry coordinates a survey of Albertans on topics related to the work of the ministry. Topics covered in the various surveys include: arts and culture, volunteering, cultural industries, heritage sites, gender-based violence, and recreation and sport. Results provide insight into emerging trends, help monitor the effectiveness of programs and services and inform decisions by enhancing the Government of Alberta's understanding of the needs of Albertans.

Description

Two complimentary research methods were used during the summer of 2008 to obtain the views of Albertans on the future priorities for provincial parks. A province-wide telephone survey was used to gather representative feedback from users and non-users of Alberta’s parks. Additionally field teams were sent out to meet with visitors and invite their participation in an on-line survey (with the option of a mail back survey for those without Internet). The field teams visited a wide range of park types and sizes, from the small 10 to 20 site campgrounds along the David Thompson highway, to the largest and busiest parks in the province.

The guidelines are designed to allow organizers of small and medium sized fairs, festivals, and events across North America to produce credible and consistent inputs for estimating their tourism economic impact and/or estimates of on-site spending, with limited assistance from professional consultants. These guidelines are most appropriate for events and festivals with 50,000 or fewer "net" attendees.
