This report details the main findings from the 2011 Camper Satisfaction survey. The research aimed to gain an understanding of visitor's satisfaction with services, facilities, opportunities and overall satisfaction for evaluating performance. Supplemental questions provide basic preference/opinion information from and demographic information about visitors to Alberta's Parks and Recreation Areas.

Description

Two complimentary research methods were used during the summer of 2008 to obtain the views of Albertans on the future priorities for provincial parks. A province-wide telephone survey was used to gather representative feedback from users and non-users of Alberta’s parks. Additionally field teams were sent out to meet with visitors and invite their participation in an on-line survey (with the option of a mail back survey for those without Internet). The field teams visited a wide range of park types and sizes, from the small 10 to 20 site campgrounds along the David Thompson highway, to the largest and busiest parks in the province.

Since 1981, the Alberta Recreation Survey is conducted approximately every four years. The purpose of the survey is to find out about the recreation activities of Albertans and what influences their recreation choices. The survey generally covers the following topics: recreation activities, favourite activities, desired activities, reasons for participation or for not participating, perceived benefits of recreation, volunteer involvement, and recreational trends over time.
