It explains the minimum legislated requirements set out in the RTA, provides landlords and tenants with options to deal with matters not established as minimum requirements, and makes residential tenancy resource material available in a user-friendly format. As a handbook on residential tenancy matters, this does not set out everything in the RTA, nor does it state the law. Landlords and tenants should refer to the RTA to determine their legislative rights and obligations.

This regulation defines the roles and responsibilities of natural gas consumers, municipal governments and natural gas marketers including gas co-operatives within a municipal setting. It establishes that an urban municipality that has operated a gas system continuously since December 31, 1994, may by bylaw forbid the right of local customers to obtain a gas supply contract from a direct seller, or to have gas delivered by a rural gas co-operative within part of an urban municipality. This protects a secure revenue source for municipal gas utilities.
