As part of the Government of Alberta’s commitment to be open and accountable to the public, all ministries are required to prepare and make public ministry business plans. The ministry business plan encompasses the department and all consolidated entities, and aligns with the strategic direction of the Government of Alberta. Each business plan includes a description of the ministry, desired outcomes, priority initiatives, and performance measures and indicators. Current and forecast budgeting information for the planning period is also included.

Under the Post-Secondary Learning Act, the boards of all public post-secondary institutions and independent academic institutions must enter into an investment management agreement with the Minister of Advanced Education. These agreements must include the mandate of the institution, performance metrics for the institution, and anything else determined by the Minister. The agreements are the primary accountability instrument of a performance-based funding model for Alberta's post-secondary system and incentivize institutions to work collectively to achieve the goals of Alberta 2030. This record contains all signed investment management agreements for the period 2022-2025.

Description

Cyanobacteria (also referred to as blue-green algae) are common photosynthetic bacteria that live in surface waters. Under favorable conditions, such as warm water and high nutrient content, these bacteria can form nuisance “blooms”. The presence of blooms in recreational water causes unpleasant aesthetics and exposure to some toxin-producing blooms may pose potential health risks. Contact with blooms can cause skin rashes and irritation, itchy eyes, and ear infections. Inhaling water may cause allergic-like reactions, runny noses or sore throats. Ingestion of toxins can cause a range of symptoms (e.g., hepatotoxic or neurotoxic effects, and even death). There has been increased public awareness as a result of research over the past 20 years, recent monitoring efforts, and increased public education on the topic. The Alberta Education Assurance Measures provide school boards with a consistent way to measure their success and assess progress using a broad spectrum of measures. Reporting results allows Albertans to see how their school authority is performing and ensures that the entire education system is open and accountable.

Description

The Regulation includes a number of provisions respecting matters that fall under Part 2 of the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act, including the administration of certification standards and requirements and the issuance of trade certificates and endorsements by the Administrator for Designated Trades. The Regulation also provides further details about the functions of the Alberta Board of Skilled Trades and its Board Committees which include the establishment of the undertakings and activities and the certification standards and requirements for each designated trade and branch of a designated trade. The Regulation includes two schedules: Schedule 1 lists each designated trade and branch of designated trade; and Schedule 2 sets out the restricted activities and classes of individuals to perform the restricted activities in each designated trade and branch of designated trade.
