Results from an aerial ungulate survey conducted in Alberta’s Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 527 from January 22 to 28, 2020. The objective of the survey was to assess the status of the ungulate (moose, white-tailed deer, mule deer) population in WMU 527 by estimating abundance, density and the age-sex composition. An additional objective was to provide a baseline population assessment of elk by means of directed total counts.

Results from an aerial ungulate survey conducted in Alberta’s Wildlife Management Units (WMU) 728 and 730 on Februry 24 and 25, 2020. The objective of the survey was to assess the status of the ungulate (moose, white-tailed deer, mule deer) population in WMUs 728 and 730 by estimating abundance, density and the age-sex composition. Observations of carnivores, game birds, and sensitive or at risk species were also recorded.

Presents the results of aerial surveys of elk in Wildlife Management Units 523, 526, 527 and 537 in January and February of 2016. Aerial surveys are the primary method used to assess the population size, distribution, population trends and herd composition of ungulates in Alberta. This information supports the effective management and conservation of ungulates, and is used to set hunting licence allocations, identify areas with agricultural depredation problems, and determine priority areas for recovery actions.
