The Air and Watershed Resource Management Contacts and Boundaries dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Air and Watershed Stewardship districts and the manager to contact with questions or concerns about environmental framework implementation and management response. This dataset was created to lend support to the Regulatory Assurance Division.

This data collection contains the boundaries of the planning zones within the Livingstone-Porcupine Hills area. These datasets contain polygons representing the Planning Zones (Zone 2 – Enhanced and Zone 3 – Extensive) for both areas, as well as the Watershed Analysis Units of which there are seven (7) in the Livingstone PLUZ and three (3) in the Porcupine Hills PLUZ. For more detailed information, see the Livingstone-Porcupine Hills Land Footprint Management Plan (2018) and the detailed metadata for each individual dataset.

The Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils (WPAC) boundaries contained in this dataset are an approximate representation of the WPAC planning areas in Alberta. The actual boundary used by individual WPACs may differ from what is contained in this data.These boundaries were derived from the Drainage Basins of Alberta and contain all currently designated WPACs and one yet to be established for the combined Peace and Slave River basins. This data is available to Government of Alberta staff via Layer Manager. For other access to the data, please contact the distributor.

This dataset is a subset of the Hydrologic Unit Code Watersheds of Alberta which is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. Please consult the Distribution Information of this metadata for the appropriate contact to acquire this dataset. The study area used in the report 'Land use, climate change and ecological responses in the Upper North Saskatchewan and Red Deer River Basins: A Scientific Assessment' encompasses the Upper North Saskatchewan River Basin and part of the Upper Red Deer River Basin. The Government of Alberta's Land-use Framework (LUF) sets out an approach to manage Alberta's lands and natural resources to achieve the province's long-term economic, environmental and social goals and provides a blueprint for land-use management and decision-making that addresses Alberta's growth pressures. The LUF was developed with extensive public, stakeholder, and Aboriginal consultation. The final framework was released by the Government of Alberta in December 2008 and provides the necessary forward-looking clarity and guidance under which specific policy development can be directed and progress can be measured. It provides a decision-making framework that reflects province-wide goals, principles and priorities. Legal authority to implement the LUF occurred on October 1, 2009, with the proclamation of the Alberta Land Stewardship Act (ALSA).
