This Guide is designed to help seniors and their families stay informed about the assistance available to seniors in our province, through programs such as the Alberta Seniors Benefit. This important program provides a monthly cash benefit to eligible, low-income seniors. Information about our other programs is also available in this Guide, including Dental and Optical Assistance, Alberta Aids to Daily Living, Education Property Tax Assistance, and Special Needs Assistance for Seniors. In addition to providing information about provincial programs and services, this Guide includes details on federal and community-based programs and services that support seniors.

The temporary rent assistance benefit provides a modest subsidy for working households with low income or those between jobs. Support is intended to help eligible tenants afford their rent while they stabilize or improve their situation. This document provides the TRAB rates in Alberta's seven largest municipalities.

Description

On March 15, 2019, the Alberta Social Housing Corporation, on behalf of the Government of Alberta, and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation signed a bilateral agreement under the 2017 National Housing Strategy bilateral agreement. As part of the agreement, Alberta will develop action plans to guide housing initiatives in the province and describe proposed programs and program funding allocations. The first action plan covered the time period April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022, with the second action plan only covering one year, April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. This is an update to Alberta’s second action plan, to cover the full three year cycle of April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025.
