Description

An Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) allowance has been issued that recognizes out of province first aid certificates for workplace first aid training courses recognized by another Canadian province or territory, which comply with CSA Standard Z1210-17, First aid training for the workplace - Curriculum and quality management for training agencies. Out of province first aid certificates covered by the allowance will be considered as demonstrating proof of approved first aid training until the certificate expiry date. Work site parties have the flexibility to follow the original first aid course requirements in the OHS Code or to follow the allowance.

Le 1er décembre 2018, les travailleurs salariés et non rémunérés des fermes et des ranchs jouiront des mêmes droits et bénéficieront de la même protection que les autres travailleurs partout au Canada. Avant 2016, l'Alberta était la seule province où les fermes et les ranchs étaient encore exemptés des lois sur la santé et la sécurité au travail. Les modifications concernent les dangers sur le lieu de travail, la formation à la sécurité et la maintenance des équipements.

On May 22, 2003, Health Canada issued an advisory warning Canadians about cosmetic nail preparations containing methyl methacrylate (MMA). The advisory issued because this chemical can adversely affect the health of persons exposed to it. Section 16 of Canada’s Food and Drug Act states that no cosmetic may cause injury to the health of the user. As a result, the sale and use of cosmetic nail preparations containing MMA was banned in Canada.
