Description

Chickpea production across the prairies has increased dramatically over the past number of years and there is concern that air seeder metering/air delivery systems may damage fragile chickpea seed. This research update presents results of testing of a Case IH air cart/air delivery system to determine operating parameters that would minimize chickpea damage.

Chickpea production across the prairies has increased dramatically over the past number of years and there is concern that air seeder metering/air delivery systems may damage fragile chickpea seed. This research update presents results of testing of a Flexi-Coil air cart/air delivery system to determine operating parameters that would minimize chickpea damage.

Chickpea production across the prairies has increased dramatically over the past number of years. But chickpea has been observed to be susceptible to damage through the metering and distribution systems of air seeders, as well as augers and combine cylinders. This research update presents results of testing of various varieties of chickpea for damage due to impact. Desi chickpea was found to be more susceptible to damage than kabuli chickpea.
