Description

This report presents the methods used to generate the web-based Condition on Environment (CoE) content published for chloride (Cl-) concentrations in the surface water of major rivers and their tributaries across Alberta. Accordingly, this report helps fulfill the responsibility of reporting to the public on the condition of Alberta's ambient environment, as required by the province's Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. In particular, this report outlines the steps taken to obtain and prepare the data, assess the quality of the data and conduct spatial and temporal analyses of Cl-. The goal of this report is to neither investigate nor summarize potential Cl- sources, but rather to summarize spatial and temporal trend of Cl- concentrations in the surface waters of Alberta's major rivers and tributaries.

This georeferenced map shows the boundaries of the Wabasca Bison Protection Area in northern Alberta. Wood bison located within specified Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) are listed as Threatened under the Wildlife Act and Regulation, including the Wabasca population. The Wabasca Bison Protection Area provides additional protection from all hunting (by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people) to avoid extirpation of this small population of wood bison. This map can be viewed with a standard PDF viewer, but contains additional interactive enhancements that can only be accessed through specific reader apps. A detailed description of the Wabasca Bison Protection Area boundaries can be found within Schedule 11 of the Wildlife Regulation.

This georeferenced map shows the boundaries of the Northwest Bison Protection Area in northern Alberta. Wood bison located within specified Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) are listed as Threatened under the Wildlife Act and Regulation, including the Hay-Zama and Etthithun Lake populations. In order to support the conservation, management and recovery of disease-free bison in northern Alberta, all hunting of wood bison within Northwest Bison Protection Area is regulated and based on issuance of a bison special licence and allocation processes for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous persons. One-page summaries of Alberta Education Assurance Measures 2021 results for each public, separate and francophone school authority. Each summary includes the current year results, as well as results for the previous year, a three-year rolling average, and provincial summary results for comparison. The Alberta Education Assurance Measures provide school boards with a consistent way to measure their success and assess progress using a broad spectrum of measures. Reporting results allows Albertans to see how their school authority is performing and ensures that the entire education system is open and accountable. Participation in the Alberta Education Assurance survey, provincial achievement tests (PATs) and diploma examinations were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.

Description

This paper describes a surface collection from the Gull Lake site near Fort Vermilion in northern Alberta. The site yielded an assortment of tools, including a complete microblade core, several diagnostic projectile points made from a variety of lithic raw materials (including one specimen resembling Angostura Paleoindian points). We hypothesize that the Gull Lake site represents one of several areas in the northern Alberta Boreal Borest that were prairies purposely maintained by First Nations peoples to attract large game animals such as woodland bison. Once these and other large animals were depleted after contact, First Nations peoples no longer used the site in favor of other still productive game animal areas in northern Alberta.

The municipalities must report back to the Minister of Municipal Affairs within seven days of passing the ICF in compliance with the arbitrator’s award.
