The objective of the mission was to promote Alberta’s energy industry to potential natural gas and petrochemical investors, to build and maintain relations with Asian energy players, and to champion Alberta’s natural gas sector.

Reports on the travel of Energy Minister Ken Hughes to South Korea, China, and Japan from October 11 to 21, 2013. This was the Energy Minister's first mission to Asia since 2006. Minister Hughes spoke on behalf of the province at a number of high level events including: the World Energy Congress in Daegu, South Korea; the Calgary-China Investment Summit; and the Canada-China Energy and Environment Forum in Beijing, China. In addition, the Minister participated in several targeted meetings with government and industry officials to raise awareness of the significance of Alberta as an emerging major supplier of energy commodities to global markets.
