Intended for public health professionals, this resource presents the recommended practices for the reporting of Zika virus as a notifiable disease. Includes a case definition and reporting requirements for the disease. The guidelines were developed by Alberta Health with input and advice from Medical Officers of Health, public health nurses, public health inspectors and medical infectious disease specialists.

The purpose of these standards is to promote clarity in regard to the roles and responsibilities of key positions in Alberta Health Services, including senior executives, and medical officers of health with regard to this important aspect of client, worker and public safety. The accountability and reporting standards in this document apply to IPC matters.
