The following STANDATA were issued under the National Building Code–2023 Alberta edition. STANDATA, which include province-wide variances and interpretations, are specific to the version of the Code that they were issued under. Once a new Code comes into effect, all existing STANDATA are deemed to be obsolete and cannot be used for new construction. They are, however, still valid for evaluating code compliance of existing structures by fire services, insurance companies and by building inspectors in consideration of renovations and retrofits.

The following STANDATA were issued under the National Building Code–2019 Alberta edition. STANDATA, which include province-wide variances and interpretations, are specific to the version of the Code that they were issued under. Represents the findings of an annual survey of multi-family dwellings in Alberta's rural communities, conducted by the Government of Alberta between the months of May and August each year. The survey identifies building type, unit type, number of units, rental rates and the number of vacancies in Alberta communities with populations between 1,000 and 9,999 that have at least 30 or more rental units. The survey report is recognized as the only official and unbiased rental housing cost and vacancy information for rural Alberta. It provides the provincial government, housing industry, municipalities, and various other entities with essential housing information on private market vacancy and rental rates in multi-family dwellings in rural Alberta.

On March 15, 2019, the Alberta Social Housing Corporation, on behalf of the Government of Alberta, and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation signed a bilateral agreement under the 2017 National Housing Strategy bilateral agreement. As part of the agreement, Alberta will develop three-year action plans to guide housing initiatives in the province and describe proposed programs and program funding allocations. This first action plan covers the three-year time period between April 2019 and March 2022.
