This document provides Alberta Fish and Wildlife recommendations to prevent wildlife conflicts at waste management facilities. Preventing wildlife issues at these facilities requires the management of two separate issues: prevention of wildlife to access the facility, and limiting visual and olfactory appeal of the site to wildlife.

The study was part of the Ecosystem Services pilot, which in turn is part of the longer term Ecosystem Services Roadmap intended as a tool under the Cumulative Effects Management Framework to help inform trade-off decisions and assure more robust decision-making.

Alberta Environment has released the 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities (Update June 2011). This update replaces previous releases of the 2010 Reclamation Criteria. The update was made based on comments received after the 2010 field season. The criteria are divided into separate documents for three land uses: Cultivated Lands, Forested Lands, and Native Grasslands.

Sustainable Resource Development, Lands Division manages the use of public land for Albertans through the issuance of dispositions and authorities. Temporary Field Authorizations are a short-term authorization to allow use of public land for a specified activity. The Temporary Field Authorization Guidelines document is intended to serve as a training tool to ensure department staff understand their duties and obligations based on the delegated authority from the Minister under the Public Lands Act and Mines and Minerals Act. It is also made available as information to the public and industrial clients for the application of use of public land.
