This policy paper contains foundation principles, recommendations and supporting rationale for a sustainable transmission development policy for Alberta. Transmission is by nature a long-term investment. This policy must therefore be forward looking and sustainable. Transmission policy must ensure that Albertans continue to receive safe, reliable, and efficient electric service wherever they live and work in the province. A robust transmission system will provide the underlying foundation for continued economic growth throughout the province and development of Alberta's vast resource base.
