Description

The Student Aid sector of Alberta Advanced Education is responsible for assigning a designation status once a post-secondary program has been approved or licensed. Designation status is assigned when the program meets specific federal and provincial designation criteria. Designation status allows student in that program to apply for student financial assistance. This publication is intended for post-secondary institutions and presents several policies concerning designation and de-designation of specific programs in Alberta.

The Student Aid sector of Alberta Advanced Education is responsible for assigning a designation status once a post-secondary program has been approved or licensed. Designation status is assigned when the program meets specific federal and provincial designation criteria. Designation status allows student in that program to apply for student financial assistance. The purpose of this manual is to explain Alberta's process and criteria for designating programs, and how post-secondary educational institutions are evaluated to maintain their designation.

Ce cadre est le fruit d’un examen de la littérature et de la recherche pédagogiques, de différents cadres d’apprentissage mis au point par des entités provinciales ou internationales, de consultations en ligne et d’échanges en face à face avec des éducateurs, des groupes de parents, des élèves, des enseignants, des administrateurs scolaires, des chercheurs, des employeurs et des organisations non gouvernementales. Il constitue un des fondements pour l’examen et le remplacement des résultats d’apprentissage de l’élève prescrits par l’Arrêté ministériel (A. M.) actuel sur les Buts et normes relatifs à la prestation de l’éducation de base en Alberta. Le Cadre et le nouvel Arrêté, auxquels s’ajoute la révision des normes, des lignes directrices et des processus, fourniront les orientations au curriculum futur (programmes d’études, outils d’évaluation, ressources d’enseignement et d’apprentissage).

These activities confirmed among other things, general support for the competencies, described in Inspiring Action on Education (2010), that contribute to an inclusive education system and success for all students. Embedding competencies in curriculum will enable educators to develop engaging and relevant learning experiences for Alberta students.
