Description

The purpose of this document is to provide wildlife information to applicants who are applying to conduct activities under the Water Act, such as bank stabilization, water withdrawal, work on outfall structures, and maintenance or construction of infrastructure. Water and the area surrounding water, including vegetation, are typically high quality habitat for wildlife because it provides shelter, food, clean water to drink as well as breeding grounds, migration pathways and hibernation sites. Due to the tendency for wildlife to congregate near water sources, there is potential for activities proposed under the Water Act to impact wildlife.

The study also: identifies a number of commercial and near-commercial technologies available to convert food waste into energy and other products; reviews current methods of disposal; explores options such as reuse, recover, and recycle/repurpose; reviews activities in other jurisdictions; and considers clustering opportunities.
