Commercial timber permits authorize the permit holder to harvest timber on specified Crown land subject to the permit's terms and conditions (such as obtaining an approval for an annual operating plan before any forest operations). Commercial timber permits are generally sold through a competitive bidding process and can be sold to any eligible person or corporation. They can also be sold by tender, by auction or by direct sale.
