Description

The Rural and Remote Family Medicine Resident Physician Bursary Pilot Program is designed to support efforts to address the shortage of family physicians in rural and remote Alberta. Participants in the program receive a bursary of $125,000 or $200,000. Funding is conditional on acceptance and completion of the Family Medicine Residency Program at either the University of Alberta or University of Calgary and, after completing residency, providing service in eligible rural or remote communities.

Description

This regulation establishes the Rivers District Area as a community revitalization area, and allows the city to place a community revitalization levy against any incremental assessment growth for the 20 year duration of the regulation, on properties within this District. The program provides a tax subsidy to the municipality in the form of education property taxes. The regulation sets out the assessment and tax framework for implementing the community revitalization levy. The revenue raised by this levy is used to pay for public infrastructure, servicing and other costs associated with the revitalization.
