The temporary rent assistance benefit provides a modest subsidy for working households with low income or those between jobs. Support is intended to help eligible tenants afford their rent while they stabilize or improve their situation. This document provides the TRAB rates in Alberta's seven largest municipalities.

Description

Alberta’s strong economic expansion has led to the highest median income among the provinces, according to the third data release of Statistic Canada’s 2011 National Household Survey. Relatively high incomes were reported across the majority of family, gender and education categories. Alberta also had the largest share of overall income derived from market sources, in large part due to a young population. Alberta had a homeownership rate that was above the national average in 2010, and reported a slightly smaller share of households spending more than 30% of income (a threshold for shelter affordability) on shelter costs.
