Since 1981, the Alberta Recreation Survey is conducted approximately every four years. The purpose of the survey is to find out about the recreation activities of Albertans and what influences their recreation choices. The survey generally covers the following topics: recreation activities, favourite activities, desired activities, reasons for participation or for not participating, perceived benefits of recreation, volunteer involvement, and recreational trends over time.

Since 1981, the Alberta Recreation Survey is conducted approximately every four years. The purpose of the survey is to find out about the recreation activities of Albertans and what influences their recreation choices. A online survey was conducted from March 30 to April 24, 2007, to gather school-level information from teachers and principals regarding their perceptions of daily physical activity (DPA), and thus provide a greater understanding of DPA implementation in grades 1 to 9. This study aimed to help identify the many variables that influence the attainment of the DPA outcomes and provide an opportunity for feedback on promising practices and challenges associated with the implementation of the DPA Initiative.
