This technical report provides updated preliminary air quality data and interpretation from the communities affected by the Horse River wildfire. It includes preliminary air data from five air quality monitoring stations in the Wood Buffalo Environmental Association network, and five temporary or mobile stations, from April 24th to May 30, 2016. Data is preliminary and has not undergone a complete quality control, as it represents what was available to Alberta Health during the wildfire.

Definitions and objectives of air pollutant emission inventories are given. The elements of effective management and planning of inventories are reviewed. A review of emission inventories for Alberta of acidifying emissions, including sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and ammonia, is conducted. From these inventories, trends of sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen emissions are analyzed for the province. Current and planned work in the area of acidifying emission inventories is outlined.
